Michael Bruzon
Michael Bruzon is based in Winchester, where he is Head of Art School at Winchester College. He studied Fine Art at Oxford Brookes University before returning to complete an MA in Education, focusing on the teaching of art — a dialogue between teaching and practice that continues to shape his work.
Drawn to narratives of time and place, Michael’s paintings are informed by experiences in remote rural environments, where tidal rhythms, shifting weather and changing light leave lasting impressions. These sensory memories influence how he recalls and reinterprets a specific landscape.
Rooted in mark‑making and drawing, his practice explores the relationship between visual source material, remembered imagery and written observations. By examining how memory shifts over time, he reflects on the past through the lens of the present.
Alongside his studio practice and teaching career, Michael has served as Artist in Residence at Brentford Football Club. He has exhibited widely across the UK and internationally, in both solo and group exhibitions.
Coastal Gallery is delighted to feature a selection of Michael’s work, with a particular focus on pieces inspired by the Isle of Wight.
